We’ve been so busy lately that we haven’t had a chance to post about all the great events we’ve been planning and hosting, but we definitely do NOT want you guys to miss this next one. We’ve organized a screening of Nigel Barker’s documentary, “A Sealed Fate?” about his experiences not only as a photographer documenting the harp seal hunt but as a witness to this ongoing tragedy that we at Harp Seals DFW as well as many other organizations and volunteers around the world are working to end once and for all.
This screening will be on Monday, November 28, at 7:00 pm in the Lone Star Auditorium at the University of Texas at Arlington’s Maverick Activities Center. It’s open to the public and is completely FREE, so please invite everyone you know to come out and join us that evening!
The film itself is 45 minutes in length, after which we’ll be doing a brief presentation explaining the history of the harp seal hunt and answering audience questions.
We also need help promoting the event, so if you’d like to help out, please download this flyer and post it anywhere and everywhere that has a public bulletin board: coffee shops, libraries, community centers, college campuses, etc. We want to spread the word as much as possible about this event, so whether you live in the Mid-Cities or Waxahachie, feel free to tell everyone you know!
Also, we are always looking for volunteers to help at the actual event, from distributing literature to manning the information booth. Please email us and let us know if you can join us — we’d love to have you. See you then!
